We are delighted to share that two of our research students have been conferred the inaugural HTX Undaunted Student Award, which recognises the next generation of science and technology talent.
The award celebrates students who have demonstrated resilience, perseverance and determination in pursuing STEM projects, recognising that meaningful innovation often involves overcoming setbacks, learning from challenges and continuously refining ideas.
We are proud to celebrate Kenric Christopher Tan Wei Zhi (Class 2524) and Tok Hui Yun Shavonne (Class 2515), whose passion for STEM and commitment to scientific exploration have earned them this well-deserved recognition.
Kenric Christopher Tan displayed strong scientific curiosity and resilience in exploring the effects of different aeration strategies on cyanobacterial growth. When faced with research challenges, he persevered by refining his methods and developing new solutions, embodying the undaunted spirit of turning setbacks into opportunities for improvement.
Shavonne Tok displayed creativity and scientific curiosity in exploring the use of chicken bones as an adsorbent for water pollutants, transforming an underutilised waste material into a potential environmental solution. When results differed from expectations, she adapted her approach and pressed on with determination, embodying the undaunted spirit in overcoming research challenges.
Congratulations, Kenric and Shavonne, on this outstanding achievement!
