JC1 Promotional Criteria
Academic performance of JC 1 students is regularly assessed.
Students must obtain: at least 25 University Admission Score (UAS) (This excludes H1 Mother-tongue language), including a pass in H1 General Paper.
The End-of-Year Examination in October accounts for 70% of the final grade.
The remaining 30% comprises:
10% from Term 2 Weighted Assessment
20% from Term 3 Weighted Assessment
Pass = ‘E’ grade and better
Retention is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Absence from examinations must be supported with a medical certificate or a valid reason within 3 days of absence. Otherwise, the student may be given a failure grade.
